I bike to work in the dark. This light makes me waayyyy safer!
Pefect for commuting, particularly with a folding bike
These lights eliminate the worry/hassle of leaving lights on a bike in public areas.
They doubly useful for folding bike users who often have to remove their lights when they want to fold their bikes properly.

This is a great light for helmet use because it is directional use
Small. Incredibly bright. Easy to operate. Amazing light.
LOVE this light! It gives me the confidence to ride all winter long!
What a great light - it adds another level of visibility.
The 360+ is light, bright and flexible. It stays on my helmet 24/7
I really like this helmet light, mainly because it is so easy to use, mounts really well, and has a bright and nicely-formed beam. The on/off button is very easy to operate, even with winter gloves on. The graduated adjustable position on the front light makes it very handy to point in different locations.
The only thing I wish is that that light had a faster blinking mode, since the one blinking mode is very slow. I just use it on steady mode, and rely on my bike-mounted DiNotte headlight when I need an effective blinking mode.
The USB charger is a nice feature.
Bonus points for being Made in USA! Which puts these lights right up there with DiNotte Lights. Great product!

Best Bike Product EVER!
This is the absolute best thing I have ever bought for my bike. The visibility is second to none. Everyone tells me that I'm the most visible biker on the road, yet not in a blinding dangerous way. The charge lasts a long time, and recharging is easy with the tiny USB cord that fits into any usb converter or computer. This is a pricey light, but COMPLETELY worth the cost for the quality and security it provides. Mine broke once, for no apparent reason, and their customer service sent me a new light, no questions asked. I will buy another Light and Motion light should mine ever die. Recommend this to everyone you know. Safety first and light and motion forever!
Best Bike Product EVER!

The Light and Motion Vis 360+ is a paradigm shifting bike light that makes commuting easier and safer than any of the other 19 lights we tested. As a bonus, this light also works very well for mountain biking. The Vis 360+ is one of our highest overall rated bike lights and is the single light that made our testers feel safest while commuting. Its design features a front spotlight, two amber sidelights, and a rear red tail light that make you visible from all sides. Additionally, this is the lightest and most compact high powered commuter light we've tested, and its battery lasts nearly twice as long as similar handlebar mounted commuter lights. If you’re looking for one bike light to do everything, we highly recommend the Vis 360+.

A Worthy Investment

The Vis 360+ is one of the few bike lights I've seen that is designed specifically and exclusively for helmet use. As the name implies, it's meant to provide the rider with 360° of visibility. A small headlight goes on the front, connected via a springy cord to the rear light which is integrated into the battery pack. Both the front and rear lights have amber side visibility: the front light has filtered cutouts to allow some of the main beam to come out the side, and the rear light has separate yellow LEDs on each side.
The headlight provides a wide beam, putting out 250 lumens on high. It's not much compared to many high-powered headlights these days, but is quite sufficient to provide visibility for safety, which is what this light sets out to do. It's bright enough to find your way if necessary, but I wouldn't use it as my only light. The wide angle of the headlight combined with the amber side visibility ports makes the light very noticeable from the front and sides. The rear light isn't quite as bright (L&M doesn't specify its output either), but is definitely still very visible, and has great off-axis visibility. This is important, because riders' heads can be in many different positions, and a more focused beam would be hard to see if the rider's head was turned. The side visibility LEDs on the rear are small and so dim that they're practically pointless, but fortunately the side lighting from the headlight is bright enough to make up for it.
Both lights are controlled by a button on the headlight, which is easy to grab and push while riding, even with gloved hands. Three modes are available for the headlight: high, low, and flashing. The taillight always has a slow pulsing pattern, regardless of the headlight setting. The taillight's output is reduced when the headlight is in the low setting, and is high when the headlight is on high or flashing. A small button on the battery pack/taillight turns off the taillight when pressed, which allows the front light to be used like a headlamp. Unfortunately, I found the tiny button very difficult to activate – it must be pressed with just the right amount of pressure in just the right way, and is impossible to use with gloves. A more tactile button would be a welcome change, as it would allow for using the light like a headlamp when locking up or packing your bike at night, and then quickly turning on the light when it's time to hit the road.
Because it's specifically designed for helmet use, the mounting system is much more elegant than straps typically used to attach regular-use headlights to helmets. The light has a low profile, reducing risk of catching it on branches. The headlight slides into a mounting plate which can be attached to the helmet using a provided rubber strap in two different ways. The strap can simply slide into two vent slots in the helmet, securing the plate between them. Alternatively, the strap can be threaded through a small plastic plate, which goes on the inside of the helmet, holding the mounting plate in place through a single helmet vent. I initially tried the latter configuration, but found that the light was prone to rotating and sliding around, so I changed to the two-vent mounting system.
The taillight mounts with a square bracket that the light snaps into with four tabs. The bracket attaches to the back of the helmet with the provided velcro straps. It was somewhat difficult to mount on my helmet, which has a pointy back, but after adjusting for a while I was able to get it reasonably well secured. The light pops out of the bracket with relatively little force, which I believe is a safety feature: if the connecting cable were to get snagged, the back light would pop out to relieve the force.
Despite having both a front and rear light, the package weighs only 130 g; less than many one-piece helmet-mountable headlights. Riding around with it for several weeks, the extra weight wasn't even noticeable, and it had no impact on the comfort of my helmet.
The Vis 360 lasted over 3 hours on the highest setting with both the headlight and taillight turned on. In the flashing mode it should last significantly longer – L&M claims 16 hours. A small LED on the taillight/battery package indicates remaining charge as it changes from green to yellow to red. It appears as if there is a green LED on the headlight, but it doesn't seem to change color as the battery drains. I actually thought the battery was still nearly full because the of the green light on the headlamp, and was confused when the light turned itself off. That's when I noticed the much less conspicuous indicator on the back, and realized the "green light" on the front was really the headlight itself shining through the green-tinted button membrane. A darker button would help avoid this confusion.
The Vis 360 is very successful at what it sets out to do: provide visibility and safety from every angle. I don't think it's a viable standalone replacement for standard handlebar and seatpost/rack mounted lights. Helmet lights are great because wherever you look, the light's looking there too, but this means that when you move your head, suddenly you no loner have your forward facing white and rear facing red lights. This can make it harder for others on the road to visually track your speed and position. Although the Vis 360's side visibility lights prevent you from losing all visibility when turning your head, that steady white or red light still disappears. Additionally, while the front light is bright enough to light your way in a pinch, the beam isn't nearly as smooth as L&M's other headlights. I've also experienced issues using a helmet-mounted light in thick fog, mist, or rain: the light reflects off the water particles directly into your eyes, a problem I haven't had with handlebar mounted lights.
As a secondary safety light though, the Vis 360 is unsurpassed. No other light is designed for such convenient helmet use; in fact, I've yet to see any helmet-mounted taillight that is bright and rechargeable. Though somewhat pricey at $180, it's a worthy investment for people who spend a lot of time biking in traffic and want to stand out. If you want helmet-mounted lights, I think it's worth the cost simply to avoid the hassle of attempting to jerry-rig lights that aren't designed for helmet use, and for the taillight optics that are actually visible from every direction.
The Vis 360 (not +) is also available for $100 with 120 lumens of output, and would be a good alternative for those seeking to add some visibility at a lower cost. L&M has also recently released the Vis 360 Run, which is nearly identical to the Vis 360 but with a headband strap instead of bike mounts. It's designed for use by runners, hikers, and other activities without a helmet. The headband strap can also be purchased separately for $20, and is compatible with the Vis 360+.

When I first laid eyes on the Light and Motion Vis 360+, I had some concerns as to its performance potential. The initial setup procedure that includes finding the best location for the front and rear lights to mount on the helmet was tedious and seemed to reinforce my initial doubts. Once I got the Vis 360+ out on the road and trail, every misgiving I had about these lights completely vanished. I absolutely love this lighting setup! From the ease of use to the quality of the beam pattern and the balanced feel on the helmet, this light is outstanding.
Mounting System: 9
A hook and loop strap is used to affix the tail light mount to the rear of a helmet. Two different length straps are provided so you should have no problem finding a suitable mounting location. I used the shorter of the two on my Giro Xar helmet and was still able to cut about two inches off the tail to make it fit just right. The taillight/battery snaps into the mount securely and literally only takes one second to accomplish assuming you keep the mounting bracket on the helmet.
The headlight is affixed using a rubber strap that is threaded through the helmet and back out again before being hooked back on the mount. The rubber strap is generously long and I was able to cut off an inch and a half and still have plenty of room on the strap to fit a different helmet. Light and Motion thoughtfully includes a second strap as either a spare or to fit a different helmet.
Sliding the headlight in and out of the mount is a 1-2 second procedure and is easy to accomplish with one hand. The secure headlight mount also has a pivoting function that allows riders to reach up to the headlight while riding and easily adjust the angle of the light up and down into a different indexed position.
I have experimented with leaving just the rear mount on my helmet when the light was not in use and leaving both mounts on and I have settled on leaving both on the helmet in order to make installation that much easier and faster.
There are just two buttons on the Vis 360+. One on the backside of the taillight that only turns on the taillight, and a second button on the headlight that acts as a master switch for both lights assuming the tail light switch is already in the on position. The taillight cannot be activated without the headlight on, but the headlight can be activated without the taillight on.
This feature comes in handy for nighttime trail riding. Use the taillight to pedal to the trailhead and stay safe out on the road, then turn it off once you hit the dirt. Without the Vis 360+ system I had to bring an additional taillight with me on all of my night rides, which was a hassle that unnecessarily added weight to the total riding package.
The Vis 360+ buttons are easy to operate with cold, gloved fingers. Repeatedly pressing the main power button on the headlight cycles through three modes that include full power (250-lumens), mid power (125-lumens), and flashing modes. The taillight only has one pulsing mode. My only complaint is that I wish there was a race mode option that would skip the headlight’s strobe mode and simply toggle between the low and high beam.
Beam Pattern: 10
This is where all light and motion products really shine (pun fully intended). The beam pattern is focused and very even at the center and is roughly the width of a bike lane when projected at a normal distance from the front wheel in a commuting scenario. There is an additional faint halo that extends 2-3 times the width of the spot that helps to cast light into adjacent lanes to notify motorists of your presence. Amber side markers are also built into both the headlight and taillight to provide improved visibility at intersections.
The 250-lumen headlight output seems underrated. Compared to competing lights that have been independently tested to produce 400-lumens, the 250-lumen Vis 360+ looks like it is easily on par, perhaps because of the focused beam. When used with a Light and Motion Taz 1200 handlebar mounted light, the two blended together seamlessly. Out on the trail they worked together like Batman and Robin dynamically dueling the darkness. The Vis 360+’s beam pattern was great for looking around corners and providing that little bit of extra oomph when looking straight ahead. The Vis 360+ is bright enough that one could safely ride off road using it alone but your speed would definitely be limited compared to using a brighter light. This option is nice to have if your main light runs out of juice or dies in a crash.
Burn Time: 8
At three hours for the full 250-lumen power setting, six hours for the 125-lumen setting and sixteen hours for the flashing setting, the Vis 360+’s burn time is impressive. For comparison the Niterider Mako 200 USB (no taillight included) has a claimed burn time of 4.5 hours at 200-lumens. Lezyne’s Micro Drive has a claimed 2-hour burn time at 150 lumens.
At 130 grams, the Vis 360+ is very light for a headlight/taillight combo with this much power. The best feature of this low weight is how well it is distributed when the light is mounted on your helmet. Rather than having a light that sits high on your helmet acting as a pendulum to rock your head back and forth, the Vis 360+ sits low and distributes the weight to the front and back of the helmet. No more rocking helmets! This may be my favorite feature of the Vis 360+.
Helmet lights are the way to go for commuting. After using bar and seatpost-mounted lights for years I much prefer the versatility, comfort and ease of use offered by helmet lights such as the Light & Motion Vis 360+. With the ability to look at motorists to get their attention, helmet lights are certainly safer and offer the convenience of being able to switch bikes without switching mounts. If you like to go shopping on your way home from work like I do, then you don’t have to take the lights off of your bike to prevent theft with a helmet light.
In addition to these benefits offered by all helmet lights, the Vis 360+ is also light, balanced, easy to use, and has a bright, even beam pattern that is second to none. When you add in the quality and customer support that Light & Motion is known for and the Vis 360+’s outstanding burn time and lumen output, you have a true category leader.

The Vis 360 Plus from Light & Motion is a headlight and tail light combination that attaches to your helmet. The all-in-one system also includes amber-colored side lights, giving you a full 360 degrees of visibility in low-light or night -time riding situation. Weighting 130 grams, the Vis 360 Plus system is light enough to e worn during any kind of riding. A high setting that puts out 250 lumens offers about three hours of runtime, while a lower setting of 125 lumens will run for six hours. That's also a flashing mode that's good for up to 16 hours.

RoadBikeReview Take: The Vis 360+ was designed for the helmet, and is all-in-one commuter light system, and combines a front light, which is connected by a power cord to the rear, which also houses the Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) battery. It is similar to the Vis 360 from last year but the Lumen output has been more than doubled to 250 Lumens (from 120). The front, uses a white and two side amber LED’s, while the rear has three reds and two side amber LED’s, and they all combine to give 360 degrees of visibility to a passing vehicle.
The Vis 360+ mounting system works pretty easy, with a snap on mounting for the rear and a slider for the front. Just attach the front mount, by threading the rubber strap through the front center vents, and loop it around to lock it tight. For the rear, you can wrap the Velcro mount either vertically or horizontally, and centering it will be dependent on the vent hole orientation, and loop the strap back around to cinch down. The rear light snaps straight into the mount, and a simple prying off removes the unit. The front slides up into the mount’s slot until the clip snap shut, and to release just push down hard, and press out. If desired, the lights are easy to take off when not in use or for charging, and can be cycled back on for a commute.
Why You Want: You’re looking for a complete package, 360 degree visibility, seen from all angles.
FL1 Standard: Ready to Go: Light and Motion is the first lighting company to test and certify their lights in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL-1 Standard. Using an integrating sphere, the actual lumen or light output and run-time is precisely measured and certified. No more guessing. See for yourself.
